At dusk, I sit by the water and enjoy the natural world around me. It inspired me to write my first poem in Khmer. I had to look up most of these words, so it was a good project.
Lngiak
Loak-kaeh jia tom neung ploo.
Try haehl knong

Kn’yom on-guy graom daum-cho

Evening
The moon is big and bright.
Fish swim in the water.
I sit under a fruit tree.
It is dark.
The birds sing
about peace.
The sky is blue.
The air is cool.
I’m alone.
I see the green rice paddies.
The countryside is quiet.
Time is slow.
I am happy
in Cambodia.
