Baphoun

Baphoun, a large temple, is located in the Angkor Thom area.  It was built by King Udayadityavarman II in the mid 11th century.
Steep metal stairs rose up along one side of the temple.  If you visit, make sure you wear flip flops and go on a rainy day, so the stairs are slick with water.  It just makes it more exciting.
Reconstruction is an ongoing process at almost all of the sites.  The stones lie in disarray, and archeologists must determine where each was originally located.  They label each slab with numbers and fit them back together like a giant 3-D puzzle.
