Anything is Possible

I loved introducing Radek to the people, culture, and lifestyle that has become so dear to my heart.  He embraced it all.
I think he will miss the beautiful panoramas of the rice paddies, the quiet at night, and the friendly people the most.  He will not miss the hard beds or lack of running water after 8 pm, but I'm not going to miss those either.
I asked Radek if there was anything else he wanted to do before he left Cambodia.  He said, "Yes.  Ride a motorbike." I gave him a quick lesson and he took a few spins around the school yard.  A small group of kids were present for this event, and they clapped for him when he learned this new skill.  His final test was to drive me up and down the village path.  He earned an A+.  He said, "This is fun!"  Now, he will always have a good story to tell about how he learned to ride a moto.  His story will begin with, "Well, I met this crazy girl in Bangkok..."

The next day, some of the students asked me, "Boy cha, where?"  I gave them different answers depending on their age level.  It was either, "Goodbye Radek," with a waving motion for the younger ones, or "He went to Hong Kong," for the older ones.
