Oh! Oooooooo

When I arrived at school in October, I was given my supplies for the year:  a box of chalk and one white board marker.  Since then, I have been collecting cheap crayons, tape, scissors, paper, and colored pencils.  Free stuff is even better.  A while ago, I started throwing my used toilet paper rolls in a box, thinking I could do something with them one day.  Well, that day finally came.
It was letter O day.  And what does O stand for?  Octopus!  I had enough rolls for both of my 1st grade classes to make their own octopus. The students got so excited when I started handing out the rolls.  They yelled, "Cha!" as if I might accidentally pass their desk without noticing their hand waving wildly in the air.  After receiving their roll, they would sompai and say, "Thank you, teacher."  (You'd think I just gave them a wad of cash.)

They colored a faces and tentacles on their octopus.  We counted their legs.  Then, we pretended to be octopi and swam around the classroom and made octopus noises.  If you didn't know, an octopus says, "Swish, swish, swish."
